It is anticipated that Theo James would play the role of George Michael in the forthcoming film.

In the upcoming biopic on the English singer and composer George Michael, it has been speculated that actor Theo James will portray the role of Michael.

James' meteoric rise to popularity began after he was cast in the lead role of the critically acclaimed comedic drama The White Lotus. As a result, he is currently one of the actors in Hollywood who is in most demand.

James plays the role of Cameron in The White Lotus, which also stars F. Murray Abraham, Jennifer Coolidge, Adam DiMarco, and Tom Hollander. James also stars in the film.

However, rumours have it that James will portray a totally different character in his next movie, which will be a biography of the musician George Michael and will cost £85 million ($104 million).

Following the success of other recent music biopics, such as those about Elton John and Freddie Mercury of Queen, Michael Jackson's family has given their blessing to the film that will be made on Michael.

The insiders of the Daily Mail claim that the film is in its last stages of creation, and that it would cover the progression of the late singer's career from his early days with Wham! to his latter years and successful solo career.

It would appear that Michael's drug addiction as well as his scandals would be portrayed in the film, including the time when the singer was caught trying to pick up women in a public restroom.

Before Michael's death in 2016, his history of drug abuse was well publicised, including his arrest in 2008 for using crack cocaine in a public restroom. Michael passed away in 2016.

Regarding the movie adaptation of the biography, a reliable source shared the following comment with the publication: "The script is in its final stages, and producers are hunting for their starring man."

"The name Theo is the one that everyone is talking about. He would be an excellent choice for the role. This is George's narrative, complete with all of his flaws."

In an effort to obtain comment from Theo James' reps, LADbible has reached out to them.

However, it would appear that James is more than qualified for the part, given he expressed interest in playing the part just the week before.

James declared on a television show in the United States, "Oh course, I would love that. He is a legendary figure. We both have a little bit of a Greek influence in our personalities.

Both of them are of Greek descent, as James pointed out; in fact, the actor's given name is Theodore Taptiklis, which is a Greek name.

Michael, on the other hand, was given the name Georgios Panayiotou at birth, thus there is a connection between the two of them there.

James has stated that he is not interested in playing James Bond and has therefore removed himself from consideration for the role. However, he may be interested in playing George Michael in a biopic.

When James was a guest on The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham on SiriusXM, he shared his thoughts as follows: "You know, to tell you the truth, I honestly think that with this, the premise of it, I'm a huge admirer of it. You should know that one of my favourite movies is Casino Royale.

"Some of the Sean Connery films are among my favourites, but I feel like the franchise needs to branch out in other directions.

"Do you understand what I mean by that? They really need to go with a, a reinvention of it in a different way, and I wouldn't be the one to do that."
