Fans of The Last Of Us were shocked when they saw a scenario on television that precisely mirrored the game in comparative footage.
The Last of Us viewers have been left stunned by the incredible attention to detail of the new HBO show, having spotted a scene in the series that directly mirrors the game.
Fans have shared a side-by-side comparison of a scene in Joel’s apartment, which sees him and Ellie begrudgingly starting to get to know one another before setting off on their adventure. Watch the sequence here:
The Last of Us is based on Naughty Dog's 2013 video game of the same name and tells the story of a smuggler named Joel (Pedro Pascal), who is tasked with transporting a young girl named Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a post-apocalyptic America. This takes place 20 years after an outbreak of a zombie infection wiped out modern civilization.
Joel Pascal, is a quiet man who doesn't say much. He's been living in the misery of a military-controlled Boston for years and feels a deep sense of loss because so many of his loved ones died in the terrible epidemic.
Ellie, on the other hand, is a chatty and inquisitive person as a result of her upbringing as an orphan in a military preparatory school; yet, her inquisitiveness frequently comes across as annoying, as evidenced by Joel's sighs.
Following their initial encounter, Ellie and Joel make a pit stop at Joel's apartment before continuing on their journey. During this time, Ellie notices Joel slouching on the sofa and asks him what he's doing.
"Killing time," is what Joel says in response.
The response from Ellie is as follows: "Well, what am I meant to do?"
After she is finished, an exhausted Joel, whose eyes have already been closed, tells her, "I'm sure you will figure that out."
After a brief pause in the conversation, Ellie picks up a book from the table and walks over to the couch, where she sits down before telling him in no uncertain terms that his watch is broken.
After watching the interaction, viewers saw that it almost exactly replicated the action that was taking place in the game frame by frame. One of these fans tweeted: "The amount of feelings that I experienced on this scenario."
Another user made the following comment: "literal perfection."
A third person commented, "There were parts of particular sequences that made me smile so much. Especially the scenario that takes place in the automobile in the beginning. The camerawork was really close to being identical to that of the game.
A fourth voiced their opinion, stating, "Like this is how PERFECT this adaption is! And there are dozens of layovers exactly like this one that are ideal."
In point of fact, this is by no means the only similar scene that can be found in the first instalment; in fact, it is far from it.
One user commented on a scene from "The Last of Us: HBO" in which Joel, his daughter Sarah (played by Nico Parker), and his brother Tommy (played by Gabriel Luna) are attempting to flee in a car and remarked, "This #TheLastOfUsHBO clip is wild. It sounds like @IamGabrielLuna is doing a wonderful job as Tommy, and Nico Parker appears to be doing a phenomenal job as Sarah. It took me a couple of viewings before I realised that the audio was not taken from the game. Whaaaaat!?”
Another touching exchange between Joel and Sarah that takes place later in the episode has also been making the rounds on the internet, once more due to the fact that it so closely parallels the same pivotal scene in the game.
Another fan made the joke that "I was literally the Leonardo DiCaprio meme pointing at the television the entire time."
